Redlipstick Challenge: Day 1

So here we are.. Day 1 of the mania. This morning as I'm looking through the assortment of lipsticks and glosses and other random shizz in my box of makeup I realize that I have a lot of shit.. Serious its almost out of hand. So I decided to start the week off with a lipstick from Urban Decay. Now I am a HUGE fan of their stuff and have quite a few things which I'll show you at the end of this. I currently own 2 lipsticks from them, Trainwreck, which is a hot pink color. The other is the one I wore today called Gash. Its a deep burgandyish red. Here's the great thing about these lipsticks. They go on great.. They don't bleed and they last pretty long even through drinking and eating. Here's the downside... Some lipsticks smell good and they taste ok if you happen to get some in your mouth. These don't.. They smell and taste really chemically and its kind of gross. I'd totally wear them more if it wasn't for that. But if you can get over it I totally recommend them. Great color pay off and stay on for a decent amount of time.

I have quite the love affair with urban decay. Its one of my favorite brands. Their eyeshadows are great (with a few exceptions which I'll get to in just a minute). The pigments are awesome and they blend really well too which is a plus. The only thing I don't really like is that while the shimmer and metallic ones have some great pigment the few matte's that I have don't. You REALLY have to work to get them to show up. Its a tad disappointing. With some of the shadows that have glitter there is A LOT of fall out. Its kind of a pain in the ass really so if you use those you'll want to wait to do the rest of your face.

I always buy pallets even though there will be a few colors that I inevitable won't use but really its less expensive in the long run. My favorite ones by far are the Naked Pallets and the Book of Shadows 4.

Here are few pictures:

On the left is the Book of Shadows 4 and on the right is the Ammo eye palette

The top one is the original Naked Palette and the bottom is the Naked 2

In the picture above on the right is Mariposa (Reese picked this out actually) which I really like for just a simple smokey eye. All of these colors are great and there isn't any fall out with any of them.  Next to it is the Deslick setting spray which I can't rave about enough. I have really oily skin ( see my "Did someone say Oily Skin?" blog for more) and this stuff is amazing!! Its a must have. Next up is the Urban Decay Primer Potion in the original formula. Now they have a couple of others, one is a shimmer and the other is a matte but both of those didn't work as well and my shadow ended up creasing by the end of the day which really pisses me off.

I also really like the eye liners. They stay on pretty well and don't wear off too easily which is good. They can be smudged as well which I like too. I REALLY like the lip glosses.. Those feel amazing on. I'm really in love with the honey infused ones. I need to make a trip into Sephora to pick up a few more actually.
Ok! That's it I'm done! I've rambled the hell on long enough. Sorry it was so long peeps. I've been meaning to do this Urban decay one for a while and well since it was the first lipstick I just decided to run with it. Stay tuned.. Tomorrow I'll post day 2 and I promise it won't be nearly as long.

Till tomorrow!!

  1. As you know, I'm not much of a make-up whore, and the make up I do own and buy is bought at a little place that rhymes with Shmrite Shmaid. BUT, that Urban Decay face spray sealing thingy is THE SHIT. It saved my make-up on my wedding day, and it's one of those things that I keep telling myself I need to buy, but I haven't gotten around to it. BUT, I will tell you this...if I ever needed to invest in some serious make-up business, I would come to you first. After all, despite all the pissing and moaning I did with my wedding make-up and crap....you were right. About everything. :-)

  2. if it smells/tastes bad I just can't do it. Maybe a little gloss over that smells better would help?

    1. They aren't sticky at all.. They feel amazing on actually! I have the bright coral one (which is in the picture) and the nude colored one (which has gone mysteriously missing). They smell good too. Seriously its like having silk on your lips. I'll pick one up for you the next time I'm in Sephora. :)
